Hello All,
My mother is from Kastri. She left in 1950. Her name is Anastasia Pontikes Retelas. I grew up hearing all the stories about Kastri but one in particular was so haunting. Has anyone heard about Diamando? I will be glad to correspond with you if you would like to hear the story. On another note, I would like to hear from Helen Pontikis. Your father Laocratis is my mother's first cousin. Mom lives in Seattle.

Lovely website. Brings back memories of family trips to see the village my grandparents were from, Agios Nicolaos. My family is from Chicago. Grandfather's name was John Koutselas, yiayia's maiden name was Constantina Pontikes (Pappasava.) Yiayia's silogo friends in Chicago, the Katritises, couldn't get along, so the adult daughters took over the board for a few years. They were such an important part of my childhood. Keep up the good work mihali.

Πέρασα τα μαθητικά μου χρόνια μεγαλώνοντας στο χωριό με του παππούδες, τους θείους και τους φίλους μου. Μερικοί φίλοι μου, που μεγαλώσαμε μαζί τα ανέμελα παιδικά χρόνια, είναι οι αδερφοί Βασιλείου (Γιώργος, Δημήτρης και Παναγιώτης), ο Τάκης Καραπάνος, ο Αντώνης Περεντές και πολύ άλλοι μεγαλύτερης γενιάς. Ομολογώ ότι όταν αγναντεύω από το μπαλκόνι το Ξεροκάμπι είμαι στον παράδεισο! Καλή χρονιά, να είστε όλοι καλά και να γελάτε, σαν παιδιά.

I left Kastri in 1969 for Canada and I have never forgotten it. I visit often and I never want to leave.
